St. Albert Loves Dogs!

This past weekend I hosted an open house in St. Albert. One of the buyers who came through mentioned that the yard was not big enough for their two large dogs to run around, and asked about the closest dog park.

St. Albert has two formal, fenced dog parks- Lacombe Lake Dog Park, and Dodger Dog Park.

Lacombe Lake Dog Park is located in Lacombe, off McKenney Avenue. This is our largest dog park. It includes a fenced beach area for dogs to go for a swim, and a separate small dog area for pups under 25 lbs.

Dodger Dog Park is located in Campbell Business Park, behind Servus Credit Union Place. It is one large fenced in area, with marshy sections and a few small bridges.

One of the things this buyer didn't know was that St. Albert has also implemented 18 additional Off-Leash Areas throughout the city. These are green spaces or parks throughout the city where off-leash dogs are allowed to roam, as long as sporting events or other city events are not taking place. These are great options for dogs who don't do well in a crowded dog park, and that have decent recall.

Did you know St. Albert also allows use of the boarded skating rinks for dogs to have off-leash fun from spring to fall? Great for dogs that need an enclosed space, but not a dog park.

You can find details of all the off leash areas here!
